As part of our preventative care, we place emphasis on screening for gum disease at every visit. If gum disease is present we will discuss a variety of treatment options available – surgical and non-surgical therapies – as well as ongoing maintenance to correct and reduce the risk of progression. At Dentistry at the Center, our dentists are familiar with the signs and treatment options available for all stages of periodontal disease. Along with consulting with each other, we maintain working relationships with outside clinics specialized in working with advanced stages of periodontal disease. Generally, we recommend periodontal maintenance patients schedule appointments at intervals of every 3 months.
Signs of gum disease:
- Puffy, red, and sore gum tissues
- Bleeding gums
- Bad breath
- Receding gums
- Loose teeth possibly related to loss of bone around the teeth
